Cats of all categories display the same tendency to perch on high points in a physical environment. It is from here they scrutinize their territory and the movement of the prey, attacking at the most unexpected moment. Cats are safe at height from predators of superior breeds.
Domestic cats are no different as they too have the ability to conceal themselves on spots like a tree branch or fence rail or even on a dangerously cramped pipe line.
The vets warn owners to safeguard their pet from risky spots as it may give rise to 'high rise syndrome' resulting in a fall. The twisting and turning, during the fall, can warp their sense of balance and it is not always that a cat can land on its feet.
However the hereditary factor cannot be over looked as man has for centuries cross bred cats initiating, facilitating or retarding growth and attributes which may result in some breeds to lack the ability to climb and balance though it would always be advisable to visit the vet and clear the matter further.
