Which Famous Political Personality Died In Russia On April 30,2007?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Russia experienced the death of its former president Boris Yeltsin on Monday from a heart attack.  He was 76 years old when he expired.  Although Mikhail Gorbachev, a former president of the Soviet Union, paid a tribute of mixed words to the departed president, the United States of America hailed Yeltsin, paying a glorious tribute to the former Russian president.  In its tribute, the White House exalted the role of Yeltsin in history and paid their condolences to the deceased president's family.

Boris Yeltsin was elected the president of the Russian Federation in June, 1991 with 57.4 percent of the popular vote.

Despite of the tribute presented by the United States, it is an established fact that Boris Yeltsin played an enormous role in the final collapse of the Soviet Union.  Nevertheless in contrast to this role, Yeltsin was also responsible for introducing the concept of free-market democracy to Russia, which was previously a purely socialist economy.
