Where Is The Corinium Museum?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Corinium Museum is located in Cirencester, a town in Gloucestershire, England; the museum is famous for its collection of artifacts dating to the Roman times and discovered or unearthed in the surrounding region. The displays in the museum chart the history of the Cotswold district from prehistoric times to Victorian times.

The city was the second largest Roman city in ancient times and hence has a rich history. The museum is a must see for all with the major highlight being the chance to view life as it existed in Britain in Roman times; some of the main feature include the famous Roman mosaic floors known as tessellated pavements, wall paintings, and a reconstructed Roman kitchen, dining room and garden.

The museum was renovated and opened to the public in September 2004 with new attractions where one could actually live and revisit the past with interactive themes and audio visual screens; one cam dress up as a Roman soldier and learn about the Anglo Saxon history and the booming wool trade in which Cirencester was a major link.
