Please Can You Help Me With My Geometry?

OK I just started school and I'm taking geometry and just a couple of months ago I was diagnosed with ADHD so math is REALLY hard for me to learn. I really need help on how to do these two math problems. I have a whole page but maybe if you can help I can understand it a little better. I am guessing you have to convert but here are the problems: (a).25 mi = ? Yd (b) 400m = ? Yd I really need to learn this before I go crazy, so thank you very very much for your help.

You are right.  These are simple conversion problem.  In A. You need to convert miles to yards.  In B. You need to convert meters to yards.

    A.  You may not remember that there are 1760 yards in 1 mile, but you should remember there are 5280 feet in 1 mile and there are 3 feet in 1 yard, so you can divide 5280 ft/mi by 3 ft/yd to calculate 1760 yd/mi.  You have .25 mi, which the same as saying one quarter mile.  So you can either multiply .25 mi by 1760 yd/mi or you can find divide 1760 yd by 4 to calculate a quarter mile is 440 yd.  (If your school still runs track meets in yards and miles instead of meters and kilometers, you will probably recognize this as being a quarter mile from the 440 yard race.)

    B.  You will probably have to look in a chart or table to find there are 1.093613 yards in meter.  Your table may not have the number of yards in a meter, but will probably show that a meter is 39.37008 inches and you should remember that there are 36 inches in a yard so you can divide 39.37008 in/m by 36 in/yd to get 1.093613 yd/m.  Now multiply 400 m by 1.093613 yd/m to get 437.4452 yd.  (This is very close to 440 yd and that is why many schools that run track meets in meters and kilometers have a 400 meter race.)
