Have You Experienced "Road Rage"?

What was it that happened?

Yes, it is usually brought on by incompatible old driver, that don't know if they should depress the gas, or if they should get in the middle of the road, swirve, set for 1/2 of an hour just to look around.  Either no turn signals or constant ones.  The government should provide transportation to the elderly, they are very dangerous, also screening at a certain age to see if they still know where the steering wheel is.  Hey I love the elderly just really hate to be behind them in a car, honestly it usually makes me real angry,  Good fortune, Grim1

Wow settle down, ever think your attitude towards elderly drivers is the beginning of serious road rage? Wait till your that old Grim1, then you'll be saying these kids these days are driving way to young! I agree with the screening 100 % but untill then lets cut them some slack and watch out for them. Dont get mad, cuz you'll be the one not paying attention, staring at them and cussing, and smashing into someone else. Happy driving.

For the most part,  people wont actually experience road rage ever...there is a ot of misconception of what road rage really is. Road rage is an intentional act, that is repeated, directed towards someone specifically, and endangers themselves as well as others on the roadway. Don't get me wrong, there are MANY drivers that don't adhere to the rules of the road - and for the most part drive like idiots, but their actions are not intentionally directed at anyone in specific. They are just driving poorly. If someone cuts you off, even if its more than once, or is right on your tail - that doesn't actually meet the definition of road rage - i deal with this sort of thing on a daily basis and have come across this issue a time or 2....

I guess that's why I listen to music while I drive.  It keeps me calm, or at least sane.

I have had many experiences of road rage residing at an overly crowded Los Angeles metropolitan area.  To redeem lost time you cut,  swerve,  and  honk to beat the traffic signal, occasionally slowing down when you see cops.  Couple of times I unknowingly cut off a car full of thugs, and to make it worse I get stopped at a traffic signal after I've cut them off.  In order to avoid eye contact or further confrontation I make a quick right and head off in the other direction which takes me even longer.  It takes skills to drive with road rage and I now have that after driving in L.A. For 10 years. :)

I have seen it first hand. A man driving a huge F150 swerved to avoid something and slammed into my husbands smaller sports car (his prized possession) and decided to get out of his vehicle and go ballistic on myself and my husband as if it were our fault. Long story short...a scuffle insured and my husband had to detain the guy who was trying to get back in his truck to flee the scene. Police arrived and the man who was obviously irate turned out to also be drunk. He went to jail his vehicle which was not insured was towed and we were left with the cost of repair.

I was involved in road rage. As it turned out, it was self induced but at the time, I was only thinking of my own needs. I was driving on a highway and a car doing well under the speed limit was in the passing (left) lane. I swerved into the slow lane and passed him and he tried to speed up to cut me off from getting in front of him. I proceeded to cut into the passing lane just barely in front of him. We drove down the highway for some distance playing chicken until we came up to a highway patrolman (police). The other driver almost hit the cop and was pulled over. I was pulled over about 50 miles down the highway by another highway patrolman and was questioned about what was going on. I was able to convince him that I had very little to do with the incident but admitted that I could have used more self control so that it would have stopped. It was an eye opener and sometime we all need that as someone could have been injured or even killed by our actions. I was not cited as there was no actual proof that I broke any laws and was honest with the police. Something many people do not do when confronted that way.
