What Is The Process Of "Letting Go" To You?

Answer Question

To me, the process of "letting go" is a pop-psychology baloneyspeak à la Oprah, in which people are made to feel that they are practicing important and mature new ways of thinking when they are really just being sold repackaged versions of the same old ways. We used to call "letting go" something else...

Right now, with my husband, it is cutting the strings for good. But, with my mother, that is still very hard sometimes. I still ache to have her here with me. I carry her with me a lot of the time. I only just turned 12 when I lost her. So the process was over a very long time. Hope this helps.

You're right Tiggersmom it can take a long time when a loved one dies. My dad died
when I was 13 and my mother died when I was 16. The hurt and pain is gone but they
are on my mind in a special kind of way all these many years later. They loved each other and the 4 kids so much that it made a good example for the 4 of us.

"Letting Go" can mean the loss of a loved one or a pet, or the break up of a relationship or deciding to forgive someone for doing you wrong. Letting go is simply realizing that even though you feel the pain from the event, life does continue on and if you put your life on "pause" then you will be left behind. Take the time to heal, remember and forgive- let go- and continue on with your life. There is no set time that this will take. The right time for each person may differ. You may "let go" but it does not mean you are expected to "forget". Good luck and God bless.
