    Some dos and donts for acting for amateurs:

    DO:

    find something to do as an objective in your scene

    speak up and face front unless the director tells you otherwise

    be willing to invest in the production, time and energy are required

    enjoy the social aspect of amateur dramatics

    read the play a few times, so that your choices and decisions are based on the play, not your imagination.

    learn your lines nice and early so you are depended upon

    DONT

    spend all your time trying to avoid doing what's required of you

    skip rehearsals, it's impossible to work without you

    see the director as an authority figure, they are your friend, your colleague, someone who should help you reach the performance that you need.

    be ungracious if you don't get the role that you want, it's not personal

    bad talk other actors or the director.
