How Do You Drain & Flush A Hot Water Tank?

We have a life-time thermostat and our hot water is hot, it is just slow. We are on well water with high mineral content. The further away from the hot-water heater the lower the hot water pressure. Can we drain and flush and if so how?

I would not recommend trying to flush the hot water heater. Because it could make things worse.  Sounds like you may need a new Hot water heater. Why! Because it sounds like the deep tub in the hot water heater is breaking off in to to pieces. And when this happens some of the deep tube will get stuck in the lines on the hot water side at the farthest point. You can tell if your starting to see white chucks of plastic coming out of your faucets. good Luck!

I agree with plumber.  If  you have a lot of sediment in the bottom of the tank, it may not permit the drain cock to close properly after you attempt a flush and it will leak and you will have another problem.  If you have not been purging annually, you have a big mess.  (Does it sound like I have been there?  I had city water too.)
