Moldova formally known as the republic of Moldova basically is a country situated in Eastern Europe amid Romania and Ukraine.
It is believed that during primeval times the territory of Moldova was occupied by Dacians. Because of its tactical position on a route amid Asia and Europe, Moldova had to face numerous attacks. During the late 1980s Moldova joined hands with other tangential Soviet states in an effort to attain independence. Moldova eventually got independence from the Soviet Union in the year 1991.

The census report of 2004 also stated that the total area of this region was estimated to be 33,843 square kilometres.
