Holyhead is the biggest town situated in the county of Anglesey towards the northwest of Wales. It is the largest town in the entire county and has a total population of 11,237 according to the census conducted in the year 2001.
The town's centre is constructed around the St Cybi's Church, this church has been constructed in one of Europe's only three walled fort. The Romans had also constructed a light house the crest of Holyhead Mountain. Settlements in this region date back to the prehistoric times, with many circular huts, burial grounds and standing stones showing the highest concentration in Britain.
Currently the main industry in Holyhead is aluminium based; the Rio Tinto Group's Anglesey Aluminum subsidiary handles a large aluminium smelter on the border of the town.
