 America was discovered by Columbus and after this origin discovered people moved there for food and shelter and it started to develop slowly and people started to go there.

 If you believe the historians/geoligists they could have walked here before the oceans we're formed and the continental shelfs seperated forming the continents we have today. I think it is called the pangea or one continent theory. Geology.com/pangea.htm
