What Are The Different Korean Ethnic Groups?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Well, you have not specified if you are talking about north or South Korea. If we talk about North Korea, people there consider the idea of multiethnic country to be very odd as the Korean culture is very homogenous. The only difference or ethnic group between the various regions is in the dialect they use but it is also diminishing. Most of the people are Buddhists. Talking about South Korea, up till the 70’s there were a lot of Chinese residing there but now due to various protectionist policies of the government, they have left Korea and now the country is very much homogenous. There are also expatriates from Asian and European states working there as well. In addition to this there is an increasing trend in South Koreans to marry people from other nationalities so this also increases diversity. There are also a lot of differences between the south western and south eastern regions of South Korea. Majority of the people are non religious while Christianity is the largest religion.
