The other night I noticed my wife's shirt was wet on the nipple area. We took her shirt off and milk came out of her nipples. Our last child is almost eight years old. I don't know what to think...

She can still lactate, and she could of had a false pregnancy which her body thinks its pregnant. I know of women that have had that problem. Even a tubal pregnancy would cause that. She should call her OB/GYN and tell them what is going on.

It is possible for a woman to lactate without being pregnant. It usually occurs in women of childbearing age and usually happens as a result of high levels of hormones. The high hormone levels can be caused by certain medications, diet, or an unknown miscarriage. Usually, lactation without pregnancy is harmless. However, if it is caused by hormonal imbalance, then she will need help from a doctor regulate the hormone levels. Nevertheless, your wife should see a doctor about this.

I lactated once because of a medication I was on, and I am sure I wasn't pregnant at the time considering I hadn't even as much as kissed a guy yet and sex wasn't even in my vocabulary yet. It would be a good idea for her to see a doctor and make sure things are alright.
