How Do You Make Moulding Clay?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There is a wide variety of recipes which are used to make play dough (or moulding clay), but the best variety of play dough or moulding clay usually requires a bit of cooking and a lot of kneading. The flour, the salt, the oil, the cream of tartar and the water are combined together in a medium-sized pan. Several drops of food colouring may be added if you desire. The pan is put on the stove and this mixture of flour, salt, oil, cream of tartar and water is then cooked over medium heat. You must stir this mixture constantly.

The next step is to remove the dough from the heat. This is done only when it forms a ball, which is when it can no longer be stirred. The mixture should then be set aside to cool slightly. The dough has to be kneaded until it is smooth. The dough is then stored into an airtight container or a plastic bag in order to prevent it from drying out.
