Take the cat to the vet immediately. It sounds like pink eye and it needs an antibiotic to carrect the problem.

In your case it sounds like a case of conjunctivitis and it requires veterinary care. If conjunctivitis is left untreated then it can lead to vision problems, so it needs care right away.
Sometimes runny eyes can be a virus such as herpes or just a hereditary problem as with flat-faced cats. Gentamicin drops work enormous with Herpes associated eye problems.
