When Did John Grisham First Start Writing Books?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

John Grisham was a lawyer who specialized in criminal law. He was also elected to the House of Representatives but continued at the same time to pursue his career practicing criminal law. One event moved him greatly and brought out the passion he had inculcated in books due to his mother as a child.

After he witnessed a rape victim who was just twelve years old at Hernando's De Soto County Courthouse he felt the urge to write about the experience. He was so moved by the testimony that in his mind he wanted to play out the consequences, the legal consequences that is, of the girl's father visiting the perpetrators with retribution. This was his first book ever published in the year 1989 and it had taken him a whole three years to write.
