How Data Is Stored In Databases ?

Answer Question

To store data for later use you need two things: a medium (plural form = media)—the type of material on which data is recorded-and a storage device. The storage device records the data onto the medium, where the data is held until needed. The process of recording data onto media, which is coordinated by software, involves four basic steps:
    1. After input, the data to be recorded by a storage device temporarily resides in RAM.
    2. Software instructions determine where the data is to be recorded on the storage medium.
    3. The controller board for the storage device position the recording machine over the appropriate location on the storage device positions the recording mechanism over the appropriate location on the storage medium. For storage on disk, this mechanism is referred to in most cases as a read/write head because it can both "read" magnetic spots and convert them to electrical impulses and "write" the spots on the disk; it can also erase the spots.
    4. The recording mechanism is activated and converts electrical impulses to magnetic spots placed on the surface of the medium as required to record data according to coding scheme being used.
