Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are several types of wireless networking standards, some of which are mentioned here. There is the IEEE 802.11 which has a data rate of 2Mbps within the band of 2.4GHz. It uses a FHSS or DSSS modulation scheme and has WEP and WPA for security. Then there is IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi) which uses up to 11Mbps in the band of 2.4 GHz as part of its data rate. Another type is Bluetooth that has a data rate of 2Mbps in a band of 2.45 GHz and has PPTP, VPN or SSL as part of security. Then is also Home RF that has 10 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band as part of its data rate. There is then also the OpenAir type which has a data rate using Pre-802.11 protocol and .8 and 1.6 Mb/s bit rates.
