What Are The Names Of Scientists Who Don't Believe In God?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

There have been many scientists in science who have renounced their faith in any deity. To name a few off the top of my head:

    - Francis Crick
    - Richard Dawkins
    - Charles Darwin
    - Carl Sagan
    - James Watson
    - Steven Weinberg
    - Leonard Susskind
    - Stephen Hawking
    - Albert Einstein (technically, an atheistic pantheist)
    - Steven Rose

The list above included agnostics who are reported to have 'strong tendencies towards atheism'.

A complete list can be seen here:

(Now personally I wouldn't trust Wikipedia for all my information, but this article is heavily sourced and reliable)

There are too many names to list really.

Only 7% of the members of the American National Academy of Sciences believe in a personal god and only 3.3% of the UK's Royal Society do.

The number for Biologists is even lower, presumably because the argument for god that asserts that it is needed for the existence of life is clearly untenable to them.

These are the premier scientists in their respective nations.

Apparently its difficult to seek evidence and be skeptical in one part of your life and then accept things based on 'faith' in another part of your life.
