Why Do We Wish On Stars?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Some cultures regard the stars as protective angels, which could be one of the reasons we wish upon them today and many other cultures regard the stars to be the souls of the dead. Walt Disney has used wishing upon stars in a number of his films, the most famous being with the blue fairy and jimney cricket in Pinocchio and the famous rhyme is repeated every night by children all over the world;
    Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight.
    I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish, I make tonight.
    We'll make a wish, and do as dreamers do, and all our wishes, will come true.

    Shooting stars are considered particularly lucky as it is also considered to be a departing soul leaving earth on its way to heaven. The wish will only come true if it is kept a secret and never repeated out loud. Another reason stars are deemed magical is that they can be seen by everyone no matter where in the world they may be.
