The essential oils commonly used in aromatherapy treatment are –
• Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobilis): This is primarily used in treating earache, skin nourishment, menstrual pain and depression.
• Clary sage (Salvia sclarea): This is primarily used in treating menstrual cycle improvement, mood enhancement, regulating high blood pressure, etc.
• Lavender (Lavandula officinalis): Lavender is popular oil that is used in association with several other essential oils. It is used in the treatment of insect bites, burns, respiratory infections, intestinal discomfort, nausea, migraine, insomnia, depression, and stress.
• Myrtle (Myrtus communis): Because of its antibacterial, disinfectant and fungicide properties, this is primarily used in steam aromatherapy and in treating whooping cough, bronchitis, and other respiratory infections.
• Neroli or bitter orange (Citrus aurantium): Peel and flower are used to treat insomnia, sore throat, anxiety and stress.
