When It Gets Cold, The Remotes For My Garage Door Opener Do Not Work, Why.

I must re-learn the remotes for my garage door opener whenever it gets cold. Re-learning one automatically corrects the other. Is there something wrong with the drive unit or the remote. Will cleaning the drive motor area/electronics help?

The cold affects batteries by making the batteries power unavailable. When the battery becomes warmed to it acceptable operating temperate and environment it will again function as normal. Most things electronic have parameters for temperate to operate and where you live and the temperate fall outside of these parameters of operation. You can try cleaning the contacts and even replacing the batteries or keep the remote with you so the batteries do not get subjected to the extreme temperatures to make them fail.
