How Is Air A Bad Conductor Of Heat?

I am new to Blurtit and would like to ask questions but I am not sure how to fill in the ask question section on the site itself.

Metals that conduct electricity well also conduct heat well.  The "technical answer" is that valence electrons transfer heat as well as electricity.  Air's lack of density means a scarcity of valence electrons to transfer heat.
