No not at all. I actually have a rat. He is a sweet little guy. But everyone is different. Some people are scared of rats. But if you like the little guys then get one!

Rats can actually be very good pets. They are very intelligent, entertaining and surprisingly enough can be quite affectionate when cared for properly. The only down side, as with any caged pet, is that if their cages aren't cleaned very regularly they will stink up a room. There are some really beautiful and unusual specialty breeds out there these days if you want something a little more unusual, but your basic domesticated rat makes for a great little companion.

(don't be tempted to get a breeding pair... They multiply like rats, and you'll some regret it)

Rats are very nice and fun pets so NO i don't think rats are gross unless they are wild rats then AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I've had many pet rats in my day...thinking of getting another now that I have time to spend with them.

I've always found rats to be clean, sweet, and surprisingly smart. I even had one once that i would put in my shirt pocket and then do my house chores with her happily there. Sadly the only thing that keeps me wary of getting another is helth issues (all 3 that I've had died due to illnesses or cancer).
