William Shakespeare is considered as the greatest writer in English language. He is England's National poet and is also called as The Bard of Avon. His plays have been translated into many languages of the world and are performed all around the world.

William Shakespeare was born on 23 April, 1564. He was educated at the King's New School in Stratford. It was a free school that was chartered in 1553. It was a grammar school. Though the quality of the Grammar schools varied during that time, their curriculum was dictated by law throughout England. Shakespeare attended Grammar School because they provided an intensive education in Latin, Grammer and classics. This was thought to be very important at that time for every educated person.
