I think you should worry about your health more then a cat. Your health bottom line is more important then having a cat. There are so many other pets that you can have and not be allergic to. It would really wanted a cat get a hairless one...lol...im joking...but you should be thinking of your health before anything else.

I'm allergic to cats as well and never wanted one (or even liked them) because of it. Recently, I bought two bengals and I have no problems with my allergies. They sleep right next to me, I get in their face and have no issues related to my allergies. Bengals are not only beautiful cats, they are also extremely active so in the case that you decide to look into getting one...be prepared to be woken up during the night to investigate what they're getting into.... :)

Also, the Sphynx breed are good for allergies because they are almost completely hairless. A routine bath (once a week ) also greatly reduces the allergens. It would have to be an indoor kitty, though, so it wouldn't be too cold during winter.

In order to have a pet cat, you may have to treat your allergies since there is no "hypoallergenic" cat.  Check out this page for more information www.cat-world.com.au/Hypoallergenic.htmck .
