Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

MS DOS is an operating system used on PC compatible platform. It is a product of Microsoft and is a very popular disk operating system. MS DOS is the abbreviation of Microsoft Disk Operating System. It has been in existence since 1980s after it was officially released in 1981. It was extensively used until recently it was replaced by more updated desktop computers.

The initial name of MS DOS was QDOS for Quick and Dirty Operating Systems. It was written by Tim Patterson and manufactured for Seattle Computer Products but Microsoft acquired all rights for this product shortly before it was released in 1981. IBM also released versions of DOS apart from Microsoft. Now MS Dos is not manufactured as a product anymore because it is not suitable for multitasking which is one of the reasons as to why it was replaced by other products.
