Answer Question

Any act of science on part of human civilization as a whole is originally intended to create more convenience for mankind than harm. I lay the emphasis on intention because we have even created weapons of mass destruction and some of our inventions have proven to do more harm than good. Still, you cannot stop the wheels of progress because of a fear. If we move past the staple of science fiction movies which usually revolve around the motif, "man creates monster, monster destroys man" we realize that still the science of genetic engineering can make life easier for most of us. How many people die because they can`t find an organ donor in time and even those that receive one are not sure how long it would be before their bodies start rejecting the organs. Using genetic engineering you would be able to use a person's own cells to create replaceable body organs or fully functional limbs. Imagine thousands of paralyzed patients would be able to walk again. In china and certain third world countries genetic engineering is proving effectual for producing disease resistant strains of food. It could curb food shortage, there are several benefits to be had with genetic engineering. Besides, I don`t see how it can be more deadly than nuclear arsenal. But hey thats just my opinion.
