When To Yorkshire Terriers Get There Period?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Periods in dogs are referred as heat cycle. Heat cycle in dogs is important stage of life because they can now propagate themselves. Small breeds of dogs can get early heat cycle while large breeds later. Some small breeds get their first heat cycle at the age of 4 months and some large breeds at 18. Average age at which dogs get their first heat cycle is 6-8 months.

Ideally, pet dogs should not be used for breeding and should be spayed and neutered in order to avoid many complications. Medical recommendation for breeding in dogs is to breed them after 2-3 heat cycles when they become physically mature. Before breeding, fitness certificate from the vet is also necessary. If you are not a professional breeder then don't breed your dog because there can be pregnancy complication.
