Dogs eat grass without any reason but it is said that dogs eat grass because they want to induce vomiting in case of stomach upset. Eating of grass can  lead to stomach upset because dogs can not digest this. There is no need of surgery in your dogs. If your dog is eating and playing well and is not lethargic then no need to worry but if he is having these symptoms along with vomiting and diarrhea then take him to vet for proper diagnosis and treatment.
