What Is A Coronary Artery Blockage?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Coronary artery blockage refers to the blockage or the narrowing of the arteries caused by atherosclerosis. The hardening of the arteries or 'atherosclerosis' happens due to the accumulation of  cholesterol and fatty deposits on the inner walls of the arteries, that limits the flow of the blood to the heart. Due to the coronary artery blockage, the heart is depleted of oxygen supply and also becomes devoid of the vital nutrients required for the optimum functioning of the heart.  This kind of blockage leads to a chest complication called angina. A heart attack occurs when one or more coronary arteries are totally blocked.
