The Instant Messenger displays two tabs on the Buddy List panel as soon as you log on to it. One of them shows all the buddies in your list while the other one which is known as Online indicates all the buddies who are currently logged on to the internet. This tab shows all the buddies who are available and as soon any one else signs in or out it is conveyed to you.
Thus you can see them on your buddy list and connect to them in real time. They message that tells you that your buddy is online is known as buddy alerts. Through buddy lists you can manage your buddy list efficiently as it gives you an idea about all your buddies who are online and whom you want to talk to.
