Yes it is true that experts have first tested anti-ageing products out on mice. Certain products have been found to lengthen the lives of the mice by 20-30%. This was due to a new gene found within the mice called 'Klotho'. In order to prolong the lives, the experts over-expressed the gene and it suppressed the ability of insulin-signalling ways. The Klotho gene in mice is extremely similar to the gene in humans, so experts are now testing the products on humans to see if it will work just as well for us, as it has with the mice.

Overall, there aren't a lot of products which aren't first tested on animals. Things such as anti-ageing products are used first on animals to test their safety. After all, in expert's eyes, what is the loss of a mouse compared to human life? Without animal testing it is claimed that we wouldn't have half of what we have these days, including treatments for cancer.
