    In politics, the term constituent has three different meanings:
    • It can be a state which is a fundamental part of a union that has come together with others to form that union. For example United States of America or UK constituent countries.
    • A constituent assembly draws up a constitution and has got full authorities over the constitution.
    • A constituent is also defined as an inhabitant of a parliamentary electoral constituency.
