The selling concept is one of the marketing schools of thoughts that was very dominant some time back but is now known to have certain drawbacks. The main point of the selling concept is that, in order to sell your goods, you need to constantly and massively advertise and keep reminding the people that you exist, otherwise people will forget you. The selling concept advocates aggressive advertising. This means that you need to push the products to the customers through massive advertising. The main problem therefore with selling concept is that the firms should assume that their customers are not smart and they will buy whatever you tell them. Secondly it also does not consider the brand loyalty and preferences of people.
