No trace of a dead body was found when Sutton Hoo was excavated in 1939. However Soil samples do agree with the fact that someone was buried in there. However there are contradictions as to who was buried. But mostly historians favor the opinion that King Raedwald who abandoned his faith and turned to christianity was the one who was buried at Sutton Hoo, when he died in 626 AD.
