When Was The Jurassic Period, Were The Only Animals Living At That Time Dinosaurs?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Jurassic period refers to the short span of time between 200 to 146 million years ago give or take 5-10 million years due to the unreliability of identified rock beds which clearly define the start and end of this period. It is also known as the age of the dinosaurs and it even witnessed their eventual extinction.

The other animal life of that time included marine life such as fish and reptiles. The reptiles included Ichthyosaurs, Plesiosaurs and even marine crocodiles and modern looking sting rays and sharks. The later Jurassic period saw the evolution of the first birds. But the territorial animals were dominated by dinosaurs; the plant eating Sauropods or those that preyed on them—the large Theropods. Certain species of mammals no bigger than rats also roamed the earth, or at least the forest floor.
