In 10− or 12−inch skillet melt butter until sizzling; insert almonds, with wooden spoon (not rubber spatula), pending sugar and nuts are fair-haired brown (4 to 9 minutes). (Watch closely to prevent burning.) Immediately take away from heat; shake over with desired topping above. (Do not stir.) Working rapidly, using two spoons go down level tablespoonfuls of almond combination, forming mounds, onto prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate until hard (about 45 minutes).
Place being clusters in paper candy cups or on squares of colored foil; store in hermetically sealed container at room hotness. Candy cups and colored foil are accessible at cake decorating stores. Almond Toffee Omit topping. Quickly extend candy fusion in very thin layer onto prepared baking page. Cool totally (at least 30 minutes). Break into small pieces. Store in airtight containers.
