How Is A Focus Group Discussion Held?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Firms use focus group discussion when they have the inclination to develop a new product or a new marketing campaign. A focus group discussion will consist of members of the target audience for the product. A focus group discussion can be moderated or unsupervised. The risk with a focus group discussion being unsupervised is that it could turn into a brain storming session.

When a focus group discussion is moderated, a moderator and a few recorders will be present. The job of the recorder is to record whatever is being said in the discussion. Maybe a couple of the members in the discussion can be assigned to a single recorder. The moderator's job is to assign a topic to the group. The moderator will interject if the group is being incoherent or is diverting from the topic. The moderator could include additional issues as the discussion progresses.
