Tim Burton is an American film director best known for directing films such as Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Mars Attacks!, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005 adaptation) and Corpse Bride.
Tim Burton was born August 25 1958, in Burbank, California. He is famous for his gothic-style designs and studied animation for three years, and worked for Walt Disney studios.
His film 1989 film 'Batman', grossed $400 million worlwide and $250 in the United States. Batman was one of the biggest box office hits of all time, and went on to influence other superhero films. He co-produced the 1993 film 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', a stop motion animated film which is now considered a hit, despite the fact that it didn't do really well at the time of its release. He has also worked as a producer for films such as Batman Forever, James and the Giant Peach and Fox and the Hound.
