How Good A Decision It Is To Select Salman Butt As Vice Captain Of Pakistan Cricket Team?

Salman Butt elevation to vice captain of the Pakistan Cricket team has been quite eye catching as the person in question was unable to find a place in the team just a few months ago. More surprise is seen when considered the fact that neither has Salman worked wonders after coming back into the team.  

Though a talented left handed batsman, his elevation to vice captaincy is unjustifiable and questionable. With Shoaib Malik as the captain, a need for a senior player who's place in the side was guaranteed needed to be the vice captain to assist Shoaib in the leadership.  

The only reason that comes to mind with Salman Butts elevation is for the long term plan. But then again, how do you guarantee that Salman Butt remain part of that long term. The question that comes to mind is, Can the Pakistani team afford to play Salman Butt even if he continuously performs badly? The answer is yet to be seen.

Such questions have been risen up but to no avail as the PCB takes its own decision without any good reason. By replacing Mohammad Asif to Salman Butt is also questionable. Were there any mistakes made by Asif in 2-1 win over Sri-lanka in the Abu Dhabi Series or is it that PCB is worried that WADA may take an action against PCB for playing Asif. If that is the case then it is shame for the PCB as it once again fails to back its player.

What ever the reason may be, but Salman Butt elevation is far from acceptable and the results will only be able to answer the question posted.

Muhammad Asif was the new vice captain of Pakistan cricket team but he is changed now and Salman butt is the new vice captain of Pakistan cricket team. Actually, i cannot understand why Muhammad Asif was selected as a vice captain for only one series. For, me vice captain has not much role to do in cricket. Because a captain has all other members of team to take advices from them.

However, i think that as Salman Butt has been captain of Lahore cricket team on domestic level, a very good batsman and good athlete, so that's why he is selected as a vice captain. Normally, Selection committee choose that man as a vice captain about which they think that he will be captain after few years. This is a way to check a person that how he takes responsibilities and is this responsibility has affect on his performance.

Some cricketers cannot perform well when they are given responsibilities such as vice captain or captain of cricket team. On the other hand some cricketers enjoy these responsibilities and these responsibilities have a good affect on their performances. But still I am not convinced with the decision of replacing Muhammad Asif with Salman Butt.
