A reverse dictionary consists of using a phrase or group of words or a question to search for a corresponding word for the same. Since the possibilities of the way in which the meaning of a word can be arranged are endless, hardcopies of these dictionaries are difficult to find. However online dictionaries and the internet are better geared to find words related to a phrase or grouping of words. The reason for this is that search engines operate using a system of searching words based on key words that have been entered. To avail of this feature it is not necessary to open an online reverse dictionary. A normal search engine can also be used to search for words by searching for the meaning. A definition can be typed or a related concept or words in the same category in order to search for the relating word.

Some websites, like www.oed.com might offer services where you want a word that has a particular meaning, and they'll try and find it for you.  A good idea is to look at sites that are about words, and you can look at either FAQ sections, or if they have a service to look for words then you can use it too.  However, they are usually quite slow, and the results are not guaranteed.
