What Does "Here's Looking At You, Kid" Mean?

Could anyone please tell me what does exactly Bogart mean when he says to Bergman ''Here's looking at you, kid''?

    It is a meaningless toast same as "Here's mud in your eye". It has a tone of admiration in "here's looking at you".
