    Gazebos are outdoor or garden decoration. The history of gazebos is as old as the garden. A gazebo is normally a free standing structure. It is covered with a roof with shape of a cupola and its walls are open from all sides. Gazebos are small and simple structures. The history of gazebo may be divided in the following categories:

    Egyptians
    Gazebos were found in Egyptian gardens in 1400 BC. The Egyptian garden plans Based on the Thebes' garden designs. The historians believed that these gardens have free-standing enclosures that were similar to Gazebo. The Egyptians used those gazebos to communing with the gods. Egyptians were believed that their gardens were a paradise.

    Rome and Greece
    Gazebos were built similar to small temples in Rome, normally with marble. Gazebos became popular structures in Rome. Gazebos were significant in homes and public places in that era.

    Persian Gazebos
    Persians designed different form of gazebos with the sense of Islamic architecture. These gazebos were called "kiosks." Persians designed colorful tents having mats on the floors. Most of them were two-story structures built with marble.

    Italian Gazebos
    Italians developed belvederes, which re similar to the gazebos. Belvedere, an Italian work, means "a beautiful view." These Belvederes had a roof and were also open on all sides, just like gazebo.
