    The Treatment for deep vein thrombosis is usually aimed to prevent the following:
    1. to prevent the clot from becoming larger
    2. to prevent the blood clot from  breaking loose and from  travelling in to the lungs
    3. to prevent new clots from being formed
    4. to prevent the occurance of post-thrombotic syndrome
    Treatment fo deep vein thrombosis can be through several means which include:
    1, Drugs:

    The drugs used for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis include:
    i. Anticoagulant medicines: these are the most commonly used medication for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis or DVT.
    ii. Thrombolytics : these are less commonly used than the Anticoagulan medicines for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis  or DVT and lastly
    iii. Compression stockings, which are also called as graduated compression stockings are sometimes recommended to relieve the pain and the swelling, and to prevent the post thrombotic syndrome.

    2. Prevention: If one feels one is at a risk for deep vein thrombosis or DVT, one should take preventive measures.
    3. Around surgery is also used for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis or DVT
    4. Travelling is recommended as means for curing deep vein thrombosis or DVT too.
