Sales promotions on the whole are non-personal promotional endeavours which are created to have an instant impact on sales. Media as well as non-media marketing communications as put into practice for a pre-determined restricted time to augment consumer demand.

    The most common strategies to increase sales promotion are to offer coupons, discounts, contests, point of purchase, rebates, free samples, etc. Sales promotion can be aimed at the client, sales staff, or allocation channel members.

    Quiet a few sale promotions, mainly the ones which have strange methods, are thought to be gimmicks by many.
