What Is A Named Range?

A powerful tool in excel which allows you to assign a meaningful name range of cells or single cell are called named ranges. I will explain it by giving an example so you can assign the name tax rate to cell c1and then we use it any time you would like to use the cell c1.

To use these range we have some advantages.

Firstly these formulas are more readable and meaningful. By default always use absolute cell references. Now there is no need to worry about the translation. They make it so easier to be well organized.

A valid range name contains the letters and numbers. If you want to create a new range you can select the cell of the cell for which you want to assign the name. Then go to the insert menu and select the item and write your name in the text box. For deleting purpose go to the insert menu, select the menu name item, then select it and click on the delete button.

Now there is another way through which you can use the names in data validation and conditional formatting. When you use this tool you can restrict valid inputs to the other range. It will not object anything and your work will be as you expect.
