The invention of the wheel allowed humans greater mobility than they could otherwise have ever achieved. More importantly it was the basis on which modern technology and society was actually built.
Imagine the world without the wheel. There would be virtually nothing in it that we now take for granted. Be it cars, aeroplanes, bicycles, motorbikes, any form of land/air, even amphibious transport. There would probably be little or no machinery. In fact without the wheel humankind would have advanced little from the most basic civilizations of thousands of years.
The modern world is unthinkable without the wheel and that is why the wheel was the most important invention ever.
