The synaptic terminal is a bulb at the end of an axon in which neurotransmitter molecules are stored and released. Thereby you have the function of the synaptic terminal as a place to store and release neurotransmitter molecules. An example of a neurotransmitter molecule would be acetylcholine, this neurotransmitter is found throughout the human body.
