How Will Broadband Affect Our Company Web Site?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

As broadband adoption reaches ever higher levels in this country and abroad, web sites are no longer so hamstrung in terms of what they can do and keeping page file sizes as low as possible to improve page download times.

While broadband does not impact directly on your web site as such, higher bandwidth speeds means sites can become more interactive and content rich than was possible until now.

Most companies are revisiting their web sites and overhauling their functionality and design to keep ahead. Greater internet browsing speeds, for example, allow larger, better quality product pictures to be used and for sites to offer streaming video and audio to enhance the informational value of their web sites.

From the site user's viewpoint, broadband means they can obtain a fuller and richer shopping experience. Because, for instance, they can now watch a video of a product being used, download brochures, catalogues and other documentation that they may need in order to make an informed purchasing decision.

Not very much at all if your system is not connected to this marvelously instant conductor of electrical impulses.
